Results of the 2024 edition of the competition for the best doctoral and master’s theses

In the category of doctoral theses, the committee awarded two equal first prizes to:

Olga Brzezińska, PhD for her dissertation “Risk factors of infections among the elderly” defended at the Faculty of Medicine, Medical University of Łódź.
The thesis supervisor was Prof. Joanna Makowska from the Department of Rheumatology, Medical University of Łódź.

The award of PLN 5000 gross will be equally divided between the author and the supervisor.

The prize for the Faculty of Medicine, Medical University of Łódź, which promoted the thesis, is a closed-group Statistica Basic Course training for the faculty staff.

Katarzyna Wadowska, PhD for her dissertation “Diagnostic and prognostic use of potential lung cancer biomarkers in patients environmentally exposed to xenobiotics from cigarette smoke” defended at the Faculty of Pharmacy, Wroclaw Medical University.
The thesis supervisor was Prof. Mariola Śliwińska-Mossoń from the Department of Medical Analytics, Wroclaw Medical University.

The award of PLN 5000 gross will be equally divided between the author and the supervisor.

The prize for the Faculty of Pharmacy, Wroclaw Medical University, which promoted the thesis, is a closed-group Statistica Basic Course training for the faculty staff.

In the category of master’s and bachelor’s theses, the committee awarded a prize to:

Mateusz Wasielewski for his thesis “An attempt to assess the relationship between the level of immigration and the crime rate based on selected EU countries” defended at the Faculty of Economics and Sociology, University of Łódź.
The thesis supervisor was Małgorzata Misztal, PhD from the Department of Statistical Methods, Faculty of Economics and Sociology, University of Łódź.

The award of PLN 2000 gross will be equally divided between the author and the supervisor.

The prize for the Faculty of Economics and Sociology, University of Łódź, which promoted the thesis, is a closed-group Statistica Basic Course training for the faculty staff.
